Michigan football has announced multiple changes to future schedules, including altering the dates and locations of the home-and-home series against current Big 12 and future SEC member Texas.

On Tuesday, the Wolverines announced the completion of the 2026 nonconference by adding a home game against Western Michigan. Jim Harbaugh’s squad will face the Broncos on Sept. 5, 2026, and added another game in the 2029 season for Sept. 1.

The Wolverines also added a home game against UTEP to the 2026 schedule set for Sept. 19. Michigan has already scheduled a game against Oklahoma for Sept. 12 to complete the 2026 nonconference slate.

As for the series with Texas, the Wolverines will now host the Longhorns in the Big House on Sept. 7, 2024. The return trip for Michigan in Austin is set for Sept. 11, 2027.

During the 2024 season, Michigan will also play Fresno State and Arkansas State as a part of the nonconference slate.

Intriguing series with Longhorns

The home-and-home with Texas will carry a heavy dose of intrigue for two of the historically storied programs in college football. So far, the two sides have met just once before on the gridiron in the 2005 Rose Bowl. That Rose Bowl went down to the wire with the Longhorns winning 38-37.

The 2024 season will be rife with storylines across the B1G and SEC with Michigan and the rest of the conference welcoming USC and UCLA to the fold. Texas — along with Oklahoma — will also be making its way to the SEC.

All eyes are bound to be on Ann Arbor for that nonconference matchup early in the 2024 season.
