San Diego State transfer, former 4-star IOL, commits to Ohio State

Ohio State gained a transfer commit from an offensive lineman out of San Diego State on Sunday. The California native will be heading to Columbus.

Josh Simmons played for Brady Hoke from 2021-2022. Simmons posted from his Twitter account that he decided to commit to the Buckeyes. Simmons saw the field plenty in 2022, appearing in 13 games for the Aztecs.

Simmons made sure to thank every school that reached out to him after he hit the transfer portal while noting that he was excited to get to work in Columbus.

“First off I would like to thank every school that reached out and gave me an opportunity to play at their respective program, with that being said I will be furthering my Academic and Football career at THE Ohio State University,” said Simmons.

Simmons was a former 4-star IOL in the 2021 class per the 247Sports Composite. 247Sports ranked Simmons as the No. 25 IOL and No. 30 prospect from California in his class.

Ohio State did not offer Simmons as a recruit. B1G schools like Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, and Penn State sent Simmons an offer.

Hoke led the Aztecs to a 7-6 record after losing to Middle Tennessee State in the Hawai’i Bowl 25-23 on a go-ahead field goal in the final three minutes of the game.
