Ahron Ulis, brother of former Kentucky standout Tyler Ulis, announced Monday that he will be transferring to Nebraska to play basketball for next season. Ulis originally entered the transfer portal on March 22 and will have 2 seasons of eligibility remaining.
And he has a lot of experience to bring to the Huskers’ 2023-24 squad. Ulis played over 80 games for Fran McCaffery in Iowa City, averaging 6.1 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. He started a total of 27 games last season for the Hawkeyes.
Ulis retweeted a graphic posted by On3Sports’ Joe Tipton Monday afternoon announcing his commitment to the Huskers.
Ulis did his best work in flashes at Iowa. He dropped a career-high 17 points in a loss to Michigan State this past January, but scored 5 or less points 17 times this past season, including his final 5 games of the year.
This move does fill a position of need for the Huskers though, and his experience could prove all he needed was a fresh start. He is a strong ballhandler, possessing a career 2-to-1 assists-to-turnover ratio. And though he doesn’t take them often, he has shown an ability to spread the floor and hit 3-pointers, connecting at a 31.9% clip last season.
