Ryan Day has a tremendous record at Ohio State, but the last 2 games against Michigan have left plenty in the Buckeyes fan base irritated and frustration.

Does that put Day on the hot seat?

Not so much for Bill Rabinowitz of The Columbus Dispatch, who noted on “McElroy and Cubelic In the morning” on WJOX in Birmingham, Alabama, that Day is 45-6 at Ohio State.

“It’s a little like Auburn-Alabama up here when you can’t really have a successful year unless you beat your rival,” Rabinowitz said. “I think there are some Ohio State fans, who would’ve said, if Ohio State beat Georgia and then beat TCU, which I think they would’ve done, would you rather have that, or beaten Michigan? And I think most people would have said the national championship. But there is a minority of fans that would say, ‘Give me Michigan, give me that win, and that’s all that matters.'”

What stands out, however, is the way Ohio State has lost to Michigan, Rabinowitz said, and noted that Day can’t lose 4 in a row, and that the game at Michigan this year comes against another good Wolverines team.
