Wisconsin tight end Troy Fumagalli has been named as a semifinalist for the John Mackey Award, which is an award given to the most outstanding tight end in college football.

Fumagalli has 33 catches for 422 yards and three touchdowns in eight games this season. He’s missed two games this season due to injury, but has been a major weapon for Wisconsin’s passing game when healthy.

Fumagalli tallied his three touchdowns in Wisconsin’s first three games this season with his last score coming against BYU on Sept. 16.

The Badgers are undefeated this season with a 10-0 record and are vying for a spot in the College Football Playoff. Wisconsin will represent the B1G West in the B1G Championship Game.

Wisconsin hosts Michigan at noon Saturday in what could be its toughest game of the season. The Badgers can’t afford to lose a game the remainder of the season, as it would likely kill their hopes of making it into the College Football Playoff.
