Iowa men’s and women’s basketball are officially set to host a doubleheader at Wells Fargo Arena this upcoming season on Dec. 16. The doubleheader, officially announced Wednesday morning, would pit the women’s team against Cleveland State before the men’s team faced off against Florida A&M.

Talk about a pretty incredible idea for marketing! Iowa basketball’s brand is at a high right now, with the women’s team and Caitlin Clark being one of the more exciting watches in the sport right now and the men’s team remaining a threat to make a run in the NCAA Tournament the past few years.

And no, the women’s and men’s teams will not be playing each other.

Iowa and Iowa State used to do something similar at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, facing off against Drake and Northern Iowa on a rotating basis. That ended after the 2018-19 season.

Times for the Dec. 16 doubleheader have not yet been announced. According to the above Twitter account, tickets for the event will go on sale May 24 at 10 a.m.
