Iowa announces captains for Senior Day game vs. Purdue

Kirk Ferentz has announced the captains for Iowa’s home finale this Saturday against Purdue.

During his weekly press conference on Tuesday, the Hawkeyes head coach named three seniors and one sophomore as captains for the weekend. Josey Jewell, Nate Bazata, Kevin Ward will be captains for their final game in Kinnick Stadium.

Nate Stanley is the only non-senior to get the honor this week.

Assuming nothing crazy happens, Jewell will end his career leading the Hawkeyes in tackles in each of the last four seasons. he’s already tallied 104 this season and has tallied 405 stops for his career.

Bazata has recorded 35 tackles this season with four stops for loss. Ward has notched nine stops on the season.

Stanley, the sophomore and only offensive player to be a captain, has thrown for 1,970 yards and 22 touchdowns in his first season as a starter.

Purdue-Iowa is scheduled to kick at 3:30 p.m. ET.
