For everyone else in the B1G, it seems that J.T. Barrett has been Ohio State’s starting quarterback for about a decade. But the decorated gunslinger has only been terrorizing defenses for half that time.

Barrett will play in his final home game Saturday, as the Buckeyes host Illinois in Columbus. It’s not something the quarterback has given much thought to until this point. After practice on Tuesday, he talked about what this Saturday will mean for him and reflected briefly on his time at Ohio State.

“I haven’t really thought about it,” Barrett said when asked about what his last home game will mean. “Probably will be a lot of emotion, things like that. I might see my mom cry for the first time, that’s a big deal.

“I’m not going to do too much reflecting, we still got a ballgame.”

Barrett also touched on his five seasons at Ohio State.

“I wouldn’t say it’s a blur,” he said. “It’s gone faster than you initially realize…I haven’t had time to look back on it too much.”

When he does look back on it, Barrett will really be able to appreciate what he’s accomplished. He’s rewritten Ohio State’s record book and owns a fair amount of B1G records, as well. He’s won a national championship and has led the Buckeyes to two College Football Playoff appearances.

Maybe most importantly, he’s never lost to Michigan.
