The tipoff of the 2023-24 college basketball season is inching closer and closer. How do we know? On Monday, CBS Sports insider Jon Rothstein reported that this year’s 8-game slate has been set.

The series was first started in 2015 and has been played each season since except for 2020. All 11 Big East teams and all B1G teams rotate per year. Because they moved from the American East to the Big East in 2020, UConn has not yet played in the Gavitt Games.

Another interesting nugget: Of the 24 teams who have participated, only Maryland and Michigan State have never lost. As you’ll soon see, both are slated to participate this season.

Below are all 8 games, set for a date to be named later in November. It’s important to note that these games have not yet been officially announced by each program.

  • Xavier at Purdue
  • Marquette at Illinois
  • Michigan at St. John’s
  • Maryland at Villanova
  • Butler at Michigan St
  • Iowa at Creighton
  • Wisconsin at Providence
  • Georgetown at Rutgers

At first glance, all of the top 3 look like they’ll be loads of fun. Iowa at Creighton has potential to be a very interesting matchup as well.
