Athlon Sports releases preseason picks for 2023 First-Team All-B1G selections

Athlon Sports recently released a number of preseason projections for the 2023 college football season. That includes preseason picks for all-conference selections across the country, including within the B1G.

In Athlon Sports’ All-B1G projections, a heavy dose of Michigan and Ohio State is featured on the first team. That includes a number of Wolverine playmakers on the offensive side of the ball.

Quarterback JJ McCarthy is the first-team selection entering his second year as a starter for Jim Harbaugh’s program. He’s joined on the first team by fellow Michigan Stars Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards.

Ohio State dominated the pass-catcher spot on the first-team nominations with wide receivers Emeka Egbuka and Marvin Harrison Jr. joining tight end Cade Stover. Illinois’ Isaiah Williams is the other WR featured.

Defensively, the defensive line of Illinois had a strong showing with Jer’Zhan Newton and Keith Randolph Jr. earning nods. The linebacker spot is also particularly deep in the B1G with Tommy Eichenberg, Cal Haladay, Junior Colson and Abdul Carter featured as first-team All-B1G picks.
