Penn State’s Saquon Barkley and Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor were both named Doak Walker Award semifinalists on Friday.

The award is given to the best running back in all of college football.

This season, Barkley has rushed for 899 yards and 11 touchdowns. However, he has amassed a total of 1,423 yards and 14 scores from scrimmage. The back has struggled as of late to run the ball as the year has progressed.

Now, for Taylor, he is best freshman running back in the nation. On the season, Taylor has ran for 1,525 yards and 12 touchdowns. That mark is third best in the country.

Wisconsin’s Melvin Gordon was the last B1G player to win the award in 2014.

The award will name its three finalists Tuesday, with the winner announced Dec. 7, at the Home Depot College Football Awards show on ESPN.
