Former Ohio State LB Raekwon McMillan won’t be suiting up for the New England Patriots in 2023. McMillan has been placed on injured reserve.

Reports from Patriots OTAs are that McMillan suffered a partially torn Achilles tendon.

It’s a tough blow for McMillan, who knows all about dealing with the injury bug. He missed his rookie season with the Miami Dolphins in 2017 due to a torn ACL.

In August 2021, McMillan suffered a torn ACL again, this time in New England practice. McMillan returned in 2022, recording 35 tackles, including 1 sack, and a fumble recovery for a touchdown with the Patriots.

In March, New England signed McMillan to a contract extension. With his early placement on IR, he cannot be activated by New England during the 2023 season. As ProFootballTalk notes, McMillan could potentially join another team if he were released with an injury settlement.

In his NFL career, McMillan has played in 61 regular-season games, making 33 starts. He has recorded 239 tackles.
