Northwestern was the last-remaining team from the Big Ten, meaning the conference will not have any representation next week in Oklahoma City. The Wildcats were the only Big Ten program to qualify for a Super Regional.
Northwestern made a late rally against the Crimson Tide, but it was not enough. Montana Fouts surrendered a solo home-run in the 7th inning to Maeve Nelson to make it 3-2. However, the Alabama legend was able to retire the next 2 batters and send Alabama to its 14th Women’s College World Series.
Danielle Williams pitched admirably in defeat for Northwestern. She gave up 3 runs in 6 innings of work while striking out 5.
This was Northwestern’s 7th Super Regional appearance in program history.
