Big 12 basketball coaches are reportedly in favor of adding UConn to the conference in coming seasons, according to a report from Action Network’s Brett McMurphy.

That same report indicated an interest from the Big 12, which has recently expanded to include programs such as BYU, UCF and Cincinnati, is interested in adding the Huskies across all sports, not just basketball.

Of course, the Huskies hoops program has silently been one of the best in the nation across the past 25 years, winning 5 national championships since 1999. Their women’s basketball program needs no introduction.

There is an elephant in the room to address: UConn football is growing under Jim Mora but has still consistently been one of the worst football programs in the country across the past few decades.

Expansion usually caters towards football, which brings in the big bucks, but the Big 12 does not seem to see that as a concern if reports are correct.
