Michigan’s defense just got better.

The Wolverines earned a commitment from UMass cornerback transfer Josh Wallace on Wednesday morning. Wallace was a 4-year starter for the Minutemen and projects to be an impact player for Michigan in 2023.

Here’s his announcement:

Wallace chose Michigan over Virginia Tech and Oklahoma, amongst other programs. He took a multi-day trip to Ann Arbor this past weekend before making his decision.

In addition to being a starter in all 4 seasons at UMass, he was also a 3-time captain. He’ll bring experience and leadership to Michigan’s secondary in 2023.

Last season, he was credited with 41 tackles and 2 interceptions. He made 24 pass deflections throughout this career at UMass.

Wallace is expected to compete for a starting job in Michigan’s secondary in 2023.

Michigan now has 9 commitments in its transfer portal class this offseason. The group ranks in the top 25 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
