Illinois’ Week 2 game against Kansas has been moved to Friday evening.
Instead of facing the Jayhawks on Saturday of Week 2, Illinois and Kansas will kick off on Friday, Sept. 8.
The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN 2.

The game, which will be played in Lawrence, is likely being moved to accommodate ESPN’s TV schedule for that week.
This meeting will be the first of a home-and-home between Illinois and Kansas. The Illini will host KU in 2024 to complete the series.
Illinois and Kansas first announced this home-and-home series back in 2014 — nearly a decade ago.
The Illini hold a 3-2 advantage all-time in this series.
Illinois and Kansas have not met on the gridiron since 1968. Kansas won that game 47-7 in Champaign. Illinois’ wins over the Jayhawks came in 1916, 1917 and 1929.
