Jordy Bahl, a star pitcher at Oklahoma who entered the transfer portal on Monday, made it official Thursday morning with her move to Nebraska.

The Cornhuskers were expected all along as her original message indicated that she was “excited to return home” after 2 seasons with the Sooners. She mentioned homesickness, and she feels softball at all levels in Nebraska is overlooked. Bahl is from Papillion, Nebraska, a suburb of Omaha.

“After 2 years of wonderful memories, I’m excited for 2 more representing the Nebraska Cornhuskers,” she wrote on social media. “This state, these people, and this N are all things I’m excited, proud, and thankful to be a part of.”

For its part, the Nebraska softball Twitter account tweeted, “Finishing the journey right where it began,” with an image of Bahl in the circle.

Alex Hickey wrote that Nebraska is poised to benefit from Bahl making one of the unlikeliest moves in college sports history.

Bahl helped OU to a 61-1 record this season, including an NCAA softball record 53 straight wins as the Sooners won a third consecutive national championship. She went 22-1 in 38 appearances and was named the Most Outstanding Player at the Women’s College World Series after she pitched 24 innings without allowing a single run.

Bahl was a first-team National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American this season and a Top 10 finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year. She finished this season with a 22-1 record and an 0.90 ERA. In 2022, she was NFCA Freshman of the Year and a first-team All-American.

At Oklahoma, she won two national titles and finished with a 44-2 record.
