Caitlin Clark and Iowa had a memorable run to the women’s basketball national championship game. Now that she’s had some time to reflect on that season, the Iowa star believes that the team’s success “got a little distorted.”
“I think there was a lot that our team was proud of and wanted to celebrate,” Clark said. “I understand we lost in the national championship, but we had an outstanding year and probably exceeded a lot of people’s expectations.”
Clark shared that she took a month to herself to relax because of the exhausting run mentally, physically and emotionally.
Clark earlier this week won the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and earlier this year was named the Associated Press women’s basketball Player of the Year. Iowa’s appearance in the national championship game was the first time in school history, and the Hawkeyes ultimately fell to LSU.
In a decorated season full of honors and awards, Clark also became the first Division I women’s basketball player to produce more than 1,000 points and 300 assists in the same season.
Caitlin Clark says she felt the team’s success “got a little distorted” after the national championship game.
She says took a month to herself to decompress and appreciate what the team accomplished.
