ESPN analyst Heather Dinich likes Penn State as a dark-horse pick to make the College Football Playoff in 2023.
Dinich was on ESPN’s first-take on Wednesday and explained the Penn State pick.
“I would keep an eye on Penn State,” Dinich said. “I went to Penn State this spring, I talked to James Franklin. They have got a really good team. More depth on the offensive line than they’ve ever had before.
“Can they find a quarterback who can take them to the next level? That’s their big question, but, man, when you look at the Big Ten East, that might be the best and most exciting race in college football with Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State.”
Penn State is expected to start Drew Allar at quarterback this season. Allar is a former 5-star prospect who looked good in limited opportunities last season as a true freshman.

Penn State last won the Big Ten East in 2016. The Nittany Lions have never reached the College Football Playoff.
