Nebraska tight ends coach Bob Wager has resigned.

He announced that decision on Friday evening. Wager says he was cited for a “driving offense” earlier this week.

“I am grateful for the opportunity extended to me, and sincerely sorry for any negativity my poor decision has brought to my family, our team, our staff and all those that I have disappointed,” his statement reads in-part.

Nebraska has elevated Josh Martin to a full-time role on staff to replace Wager. Martin previously coached tight ends at SMU and Arizona State. Martin initially joined the Huskers as a special teams analyst.

Additional specifics on Wager’s citation are not yet known as of publication.

Like most of Nebraska’s coaching staff, this was set to be Wager’s first season in Lincoln. Prior to joining the Huskers, Wager had a successful career as a high school coach in Texas.

Nebraska’s first regular season game is nearly 1 month away. The Huskers will face Minnesota on August 31st to open the season.
