Hunter Wohler, Wisconsin DB, draws ultimate compliment from Luke Fickell

Hunter Wohler entered the 2022 season with high expectations after a strong debut season for Wisconsin in 2021. Unfortunately, an early season set Wohler back a season ago.
The good news is Wohler returned to the defense in November and picked up right where he left off. Now, he’s gearing up for what should be a fantastic 2023 campaign with the Badgers.
On Tuesday, new head coach Luke Fickell met with the media ahead of the start of training camp. Wohler was a player particularly singled out by Fickell for his impact on the program across the board.
Fickell went as far as to say that Wohler’s contributions to the program outweigh his player on the field due to his leadership qualities. However, Fickell also believes the defensive back plays the game “as good as I’ve seen” with natural instincts.
Luke Fickell on Hunter Wohler:
“Leadership-wise…it is true. I think the things off the field, the things he brings to the entire program far outweigh what he brings to the field.”
“He’s as good as I’ve seen just playing the game, natural instincts.”#Badgers

Wohler was limited to 6 games last season but finished with 21 tackles and an interception. Now, he’s got a chance to be one of the best defenders in the B1G and in the country this fall.
