Blake Corum is coming off a season-ending knee injury during the 2022 season. Now heading into 2023, he recently discussed adding some weight in the offseason while maintaining his speed and cutting ability.
Speaking with Clayton Sayfie of On3 Sports, Corum revealed he bulked up all the way to 225 pounds this offseason. He has cut some of that weight but he still anticipates playing about 3-5 pounds heavier this season.
“I bulked up, I got to 225 but I’m now currently at 215. I bulked up in the winter and shed a little bit,” Corum said. “I’ll probably shed another 3, play 212-213. I played at 208-210 last year. Put on a couple pounds, but in the winter I was huge. I lost some of it, but I feel good. I’m stronger than ever, faster. My cutting ability is crazy.”

Corum has been dynamic for Michigan the past 2 seasons, but he has struggled with injuries along the way. He was off to an explosive start to the 2021 season before an injury led Corum to post just 15 carries from the start of November to the end of the season.
A season ago, Corum rushed for over 1,400 yards and was riding a string of 8 straight games with at least 100 yards when he suffered his injury against Illinois. He tried to play against Ohio State but was unable to go after just 2 carries.
Hopefully, a few more pounds will help Corum sustain the blows that come with a long season of B1G football.
