Mike Yurcich is blessed with riches at Penn State. He mentioned how much the RB and TE groups have improved in his offense at Sunday’s presser.

Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen took the majority of snaps in the Nittany Lion backfield last season. Singleton finished with 1,061 yards rushing with 13 total touchdowns, while Allen had 867 yards rushing and 11 total touchdowns.

Yurcich had high praise for the RB duo, stating that they have improved in almost every aspect.

“It’s not just one thing, it’s the overall development,” said Yurcich.

Singleton and Allen were both from the 2022 class. Singleton was a 5-star recruit and Allen was a 4-star recruit. If both can continue to dominate in 2023, things should be just fine with the Penn State running game.

Yurcich further explained how pleased he has been with the tight ends. Tyler Warren and Theo Johnson were two players that have impressed Yurcich with their leadership skills.

“They’re quick to pickup things, but their leadership is the one area where I think it’s really impressive,” said Yurcich.

The Penn State OC also stated that Penn State will have a chance to move around in 12-personnel with both Johnson and Warren.

Johnson is coming off of a 2022 season where he had 328 yards receiving and 4 touchdowns.
