Northwestern football has been a center of controversy for the past few months after an internal investigation revealed a culture of hazing and sexual abuse. Head coach Pat Fitzgerald, who had served at the helm of the Wildcats program since 2006, was later fired for his involvement in the culture.

On Wednesday, reports from within practice revealed that certain coaches, including OC Mike Bajakian, were wearing T-shirts with “Cats against the World” written on the front alongside the No. 51 – Fitzgerald’s old number.

From an outside point of view, the shirts surely look to be backing Fitzgerald.

Bradley Locker, who first reported the update, revealed in a post following that above that he reached out to the company that made the shirts. The company did not disclose whether Northwestern players/coaches were involved in its design/creation.

The shirts have been circulated around social media by members of the Northwestern football team and are available for purchase until July 31, according to the report.

A note regarding the “Cats Against the World” slogan: Northwestern football is 4-20 across the past 2 seasons and has not won a game within the borders of the United States since October 16, 2021.
