Jeff Brohm is staying put. Well, at least that is what the Purdue head coach is telling his recruits.

Despite conflicting reports stating that Tennessee and Brohm had reached an agreement on Wednesday afternoon, Purdue commit Elijah Ball sent a text to the Boilermakers head coach, asking if he was headed to Knoxville.

Brohm responded, saying “Just landed off airplane. Those reports are false!

It was confirmed that Brohm and Tennessee had made contact but the two sides were never close to reaching a deal. If Brohm does indeed pass on the opportunity, he joins a list of other candidates who have turned down the vacancy in Knoxville.

Brohm has finished his first season at Purdue, leading the Boilermakers to a 6-6 record and the program’s first bowl appearance since 2012. They clinched the .500 record on Saturday with a win over rival Indiana.

Prior to arriving in West Lafayette, Brohm spent three seasons at Western Kentucky where he tallied a 30-10 record and led the Hilltoppers to back-to-back Conference USA titles.

While fans in West Lafayette were sweating a little bit, it appears that this is one battle Purdue will win.
