Indiana has elevated Mike Woodson’s compensation to put him near the top of the highest-paid coaches in the Big Ten.
The move came after Woodson led the Indiana men’s basketball program to its first back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in a decade, and it’s a $1 million per year raise on the contract he originally signed in 2021.
Woodson will earn an average of $4.2 million annually on the remaining 4 years of his contract. The salary adjustment makes the third-year IU head coach 1 of the 3 highest paid men’s basketball coaches in the Big Ten. Michigan State’s Tom Izzo and Illinois’ Brad Underwood lead the league.
In his 2 seasons in Bloomington, Woodson has a 44-26 overall record, and earned a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances, and won an NCAA Tournament game each season. His 2022-23 team earned a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament, IU’s highest NCAA seed in 11 years.
The Hoosiers are 21-19 in conference games under Woodson, including a 12-8 mark in the B1G last season, their first winning record in Big Ten play since 2016.
