Sammy Sasso, Ohio State wrestler, reportedly shot in Columbus

Sammy Sasso, a star wrestler for Ohio State, was reportedly shot Friday evening.
According to ABC6, Sasso was wounded in a shooting that began as a robbery just south of Ohio State’s campus in Columbus. Police say the shooting happened near the 1300 block of North High Street just before 8:30 pm.
Sasso was transported to the school’s Wexner Medical Center in serious condition. No suspects were apprehended at the time of the incident.
According to Brad Wilson with LehighValleyLive.com, Sasso was reportedly shot in his stomach. The star wrestler reportedly had surgery after the shooting and underwent another surgery on Saturday.
Though his condition was reported to be “serious” as of Saturday, a family source indicated to Wilson that Sasso’s surgeon believes he should make a full recovery and be able to wrestle again.
Ohio State wrestling head coach Tom Ryan issued a statement, thankfully noting Sasso’s injuries are not life-threatening:

Sasso is a 2-time champion in the B1G and a 4-time qualifier for the NCAA Tournament. He is a 2-time running up at the NCAA Championship and a 4-time All-American for the Buckeyes.
