Jaxon Smith-Njigba to undergo surgery, status for season opener in question

Jaxon Smith-Njigba could miss the Seattle Seahawks’ regular season opener because of a wrist surgery he was expected to have on Tuesday.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed that the rookie receiver out of Ohio State had the procedure done in Philadelphia after the injury happened in a recent game, and also noted that the surgery will decide how much time he’s out.
Seahawks’ first-round pick Jaxon Smith-Njigba is undergoing wrist surgery today in Philadelphia, but still could have a chance to be ready for the start of the regular season, per sources. Surgery will determine how long he will miss. He hurt his wrist Saturday night vs. Dallas.

The Seahawks selected Smith-Njigba with the No. 20 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Smith-Njigba was a third-team All-American in 2021 for Ohio State. During that stellar season, Smith-Njigba amassed 95 receptions for 1,606 yards and 9 touchdowns.
In total, Smith-Njigba tallied 109 receptions for 1,691 yards and 10 touchdowns during his 3 seasons with the Buckeyes.
