There are a lot of really good football coaches running programs in Florida this year. And we’re not even talking about the traditional powers like Florida and Florida State.

While Miami head coach Mark Richt restored some pride in that program with an ACC Coastal title and a resurgence back into the spotlight, it was what several coaches did at the Group of Five level that really turned some heads. Lane Kiffin led Florida Atlantic to a C-USA title and Scott Frost guided UCF to an undefeated season and an AAC championship.

FIU had an 8-4 record under Butch Davis and Charlie Strong was 9-2 at USF.

So, yeah, naming the best head coach in the state? That would be a difficult task.

One Associated Press writer asked that very question on Twitter, complete with a poll. His options were Richt, Frost, Davis and Kiffin, all of which you could make a strong case for.

But when Kiffin — who has become a social media star this year — scrolled across the tweet, he offered his thoughts on the poll. The FAU head coach believes Frost was the man to beat this season.

Frost would likely be the top choice, leading UCF to a 12-0 record, an ACC title and a No. 12 ranking in the College Football Playoff. And the Knights accomplished all of that two years removed from a winless season in 2015.

Of course, Frost recently accepted the head coaching position at Nebraska and was introduced on Sunday afternoon.

But before Frost returned home, he certainly left his mark in Orlando. Kiffin was just acknowledging that.
