Minnesota fans know the name Bud Grant very well. Grant was a legend at Minnesota football, and sadly passed away this offseason.

Grant’s legacy will be honored as the football team is planning on wearing a special decal on its helmets. The decals will say “Bud” with the No. 13 on it as well.

After graduating high school in 1945, Grant decided to enlist in the U.S. Navy. He was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Training Station in Illinois. However, Grant wanted to play college football, so he used an acceptance letter to be discharged and committed to playing at Minnesota.

Grant played three sports while at Minnesota. Grant played football, baseball, and basketball while with the Golden Gophers.

After his playing days Grant ended up coaching in the CFL and NFL. Grant coached the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Minnesota Vikings.

It’s great to see Grant’s legacy being honored by Minnesota.
