After Wisconsin linebacker Jordan Turner was ejected from the Badgers’ 38-17 win over Buffalo Saturday, head coach Luke Fickell didn’t hold back his thoughts about the call.
Fickell believes Turner didn’t deserve to be ejected, but he also doesn’t think any player should be thrown out, depending on the circumstances.
“I’ll say this every time, I do not believe we should throw kids out of games,” Fickell said in his postgame press conference. “If it’s a blatant shot where we’ve gotta make a point…maybe.”
Targeting has certainly been a topic of conversation among college football fans the last few seasons. It seems every year the targeting calls get thrown around more often.
Before he was ejected, Turner had 8 total tackles and was acting as a force on defense. The Badgers certainly took a big loss when Turner was sent to the locker rooms.
Ultimately Wisconsin made due without Turner and picked up a win in Week 1. The Badgers hit the road to take on Washington State next week.
