Taulia Tagovailoa kicked off another season as Maryland’s starting quarterback Saturday. Already holding a number of program records undre his belt, Tagovailoa eclipsed another elite milestone after an electric outing against Towson.

The star QB started the scoring with a scramble and score on the ground before heating up the passing attack. Tagovailoa finished the game going 22-for-33 passing with 260 yards and 4 total touchdowns (3 passing touchdowns).

Along the way, Tagovailoa reached the 8,000-yard plateau for his career. That puts Tagoavailoa in a class by himself as the only Terrapin player to reach 8,000 total yards with the program.

Prior to the season opener, Tagovailoa already held Maryland’s career marks for passing yards, passing touchdowns and total offense. He also holds a number of single-season records within the program.

One target that could be on Tagovailoa’s radar this season is Maryland’s single-game touchdown record. That record for single-game passing touchdowns is 5, a mark held by John Kaleo and Scott Milanovich.

We’ll see if Tagovailoa can add any other records to his tally this fall, but he will eventually depart the Terrapins as the most decorated QB in program history.
