Matt Rhule began his Nebraska tenure with a heartbreaking defeat against Minnesota. Unfortunately, Rhule confirmed during his Monday press conference that one player will be sidelined the rest of the way.
According to the head coach, wide receiver Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda suffered a torn ACL during the season opener. It is a season-ending blow for the wideout after 1 catch for 7 yards against the Gophers.
“It’s all hands on deck,” said Rhule.

Garcia-Castaneda joined Nebraska last season and had some flashes in the season opener against Northwestern. He eventually decided to enter the transfer portal and appeared in just 4 games last season.
After Rhule was hired, Garcia-Castaneda opted to stay with the Huskers and was likely in line for a key role with the offense. Now, he’ll look to rehab and get healthy.
