B1G announces Players of the Week after Week 1

The Big Ten has announced its Players of the Week after the first full weekend of games on the college football schedule.
The Offensive Player of the Week is Penn State quarterback Drew Allar. Illinois defensive back Miles Scott and Minnesota safety Tyler Nubin captured Co-Defensive Player of the Week. Minnesota kicker Dragan Kesich is the Special Teams Player of the Week, while Purdue defensive back Dillon Thieneman earned Freshman of the Week.

Allar passed for a career-high 325 yards with 3 touchdowns and no interceptions in the 38-15 victory vs. West Virginia. Allar threw a 72-yard touchdown to KeAndre Lambert-Smith on the first drive of the game for the Nittany Lions.
Scott had a crucial 48-yard pick-6 in the 3rd quarter of Illinois’ 30-28 win against Toledo. Scott also amassed 6 tackles.
Nubin tallied 2 interceptions as Minnesota edged Nebraska 13-10. Nubin’s second interception with less than a minute left in the game helped secure the victory.
Kesich went 2-for-3 on his field goals attempting, including the game-winning 47-yarder as time expired for the Golden Gophers.
Thieneman led Purdue with 10 tackles and also had an interception in his freshman debut. Thieneman is the third Purdue freshman with an interception in his debut dating back to 1996.
