Michigan and Notre Dame agreed to restore the iconic rivalry game after a three-year hiatus. The Fighting Irish called off the series because of an increased number of ACC games on the schedule.
The two programs met on the gridiron annually from 2002-2014 before parting ways.
Michigan and Notre Dame have gone head-to-head 42 times, with the Wolverines owning a 24-17-1 all-time lead. The Irish have won two of the last three meetings in the series, including a 31-0 shutout win in 2014.
Jim Harbaugh has not yet played against the Fighting Irish as head coach.
