Saquon Barkley wins Chicago Tribune Silver Football for second straight year

Saquon Barkley’s unbelievable season has resulted in another major award.
On Thursday, the Chicago Tribune announced that the Penn State running back was selected as the winner of the Tribune’s Silver Football, presented to the B1G’s best player annually. He received nine of the possible 13 votes from head coaches across the conference.
Earlier this year, Barkley was named the winner of the Paul Hornung Award, presented to the most versatile player in college football.

Barkley totaled 2,154 all-purpose yards this season, leading the B1G. He also totaled 22 touchdowns as Penn State went on to finish 10-2 this year.
This was the second time Barkley has won the Silver Football, as he also earned the honor at the end of the 2016 season. Last fall, though, he split the award with Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett after totaling the same number of votes.
He becomes the first two-time winner of the award.
