Joe Milton isn’t going to run away from Michigan. Not even after ex-Ole Miss quarterback Shea Patterson announced that he was transferring out of Oxford and will head for Ann Arbor on Monday.

While the thought of one of college football’s top quarterbacks might scare off some other quarterback recruits from the program, Milton seems prepared for the challenge that awaits him.

On Monday, after hearing of Patterson’s transfer news, Milton sent out a tweet of his own, essentially saying that he’s not going to shy away from Michigan, or the quarterback competition, just because another quarterback is coming to town.

Here’s the tweet the Florida native sent out:

Milton is a four-star pro-style quarterback and is ranked as a top 200 prospect in the 2018 recruiting class. He’s tabbed as the seventh-best pro-style quarterback and the 31st-best player out of Florida, according to 247Sports.

He was expected to come in and potentially battle for the starting job right away, along with Brandon Peters and Dylan McCaffrey. The addition of Patterson, however, could make that position even harder to win.

Patterson still isn’t sure if he’ll be eligible for the 2018 season, which means Milton, Peters and McCaffrey could be battling for the starting job after all. But if he is eligible, it’s going to be quite the competition in Ann Arbor this fall.

It sounds like Milton is ready for it, though. And that’s a great sign for Michigan.
