Arik Gilbert, Nebraska TE, arrested on burglary charges for 2nd time in less than 3 weeks

Arik Gilbert, the Nebraska tight end who transferred from Georgia in the offseason, has been arrested on burglary charges for the 2nd time in less than 3 weeks.
According to a police report, Gilbert was charged on Friday with burglary and obstruction about 65 miles north of Atlanta.
This is the latest misstep for Gilbert, who was hit with a burglary charge on Aug. 29 in Lincoln as he allegedly broke into a liquor and vape shop not far from the University of Nebraska campus. Officers determined that the amount of the merchandise taken was in excess of $1,600.
Gilbert’s career started with plenty of promise in 2022. After signing with LSU out of the Atlanta area, the former 5-star recruit was an SEC All-Freshman pick after making 35 catches for 368 yards and 2 touchdowns. He then transferred to Georgia but didn’t play in 2021 before appearing in just 3 games in 2022.
Ahead of the 2023 season, he transferred to Nebraska, where he has been awaiting a decision from the NCAA regarding his eligibility since he had already taken advantage of the 1-time transfer rule.
Unfortunately, Gilbert finds himself in legal trouble once more. His future with the Cornhuskers has to be under serious discussion at this point.
