Iowa vs. Western Michigan hits early weather delay

Iowa vs. Western Michigan kicked off as anticipated, but the game did not get far along before hitting a weather delay due to lightning.
The delay came with 5:33 of the game clock left in the first quarter and just under 10 minutes of game time elapsed. Even more unfortunate for the Hawkeyes, Iowa had just surrendered a long 64-yard touchdown to the Broncos to fall behind 7-0.
Iowa will announce updates as they come out, but any lightning strike near the stadium will reset a 30-minute clock.

As for the action on the field, quarterback Cade McNamara threw an interception on the first drive of the game. Iowa has had one other drive with the football, but the offense ran just 6 plays before punting away.
Starting running back Kaleb Johnson is out for Saturday’s game, and we’ll see how much that affects Iowa throughout the matchup.
