Luke Lachey, Iowa’s star TE, heads to locker room with injury in Week 3

Luke Lachey appeared to sustain a serious injury during Iowa’s Week 3 game against Western Michigan.
After coming back from a weather delay, Lachey and the Hawkeye offense generated a drive into Bronco territory. Unfortunately, he went down after an awkward tackle and was helped off the field by medical staff.
During the tackle, Lachey’s upper body was bent backward with his legs and feet at an awkward angle. He stayed down in obvious pain and was unable to put weight on his right leg as he was coming off the field.
The BTN broadcast eventually reported Lachey spent 5-6 minutes in the injury tent before departing the sidelines on crutches and heading to the locker room. At this point, it sure seems doubtful that Lachey would be cleared for a return against Western Michigan.
There’s no overstating the importance of Lachey to the Hawkeyes. He was the team’s leading receiver entering Week 3 with 10 catches for 131 yards. Without him in the lineup, Erick All and Nico Ragaini will need to step up for an offense that is already missing Kaleb Johnson.
