The former Buckeye went down while making a tackle in the Steelers’ Dec. 4 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Shazier went to the ground and pointed to his back as he was carted off the field. He then underwent spinal stabilization surgery last week and has made gradual improvements.
Shazier is in his fourth year in the NFL after Pittsburgh took him with the No. 15 overall pick in the 2014 draft. He wasn’t in attendance for the Steelers’ win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, but was able to celebrate with his teammates on FaceTime after the game.
