ESPN’s FPI predicts winner of Ohio State’s trip to Notre Dame for primetime Top 10 battle

ESPN’s FPI has predicted the winner of a major early season test for Ohio State, as the No. 6 Buckeyes travel to South Bend to face No. 9 Notre Dame for their final non-conference game before playing B1G teams the rest of the way.

This is a relatively infrequent head-to-head series; after facing each other in 1935 and 1936 — both Notre Dame wins — the 2 teams didn’t play each other until 1995, with Ohio State winning that one. The Buckeyes then beat the Fighting Irish at Notre Dame Stadium the next year. In 2006 and again in 2016, the Buckeyes clinched Fiesta Bowl victories over the Irish, and in 2022, a regular season game, the Buckeyes won 21-10.

This game has a lot on the line. Both ND and OSU are College Football Playoff hopefuls and the Buckeyes are currently +1000 to win the whole thing! Like those odds? Interested fans can use our BetMGM Ohio promo code to get in on the action.

Ohio State will look to extend its win streak against Notre Dame to 6 on the road on Saturday. ESPN’s FPI foresees a high likelihood of that happening, giving the Buckeyes a 65.7 percent chance of victory.

Kickoff from Notre Dame Stadium between the 3-0 Buckeyes and the 4-0 Fighting Irish is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on NBC.
