The Iowa Hawkeyes got some big news on Friday, as one of the nation’s prolific quarterback recruits announced his commitment to the black and gold.
Greenbrae (Calif.) Marin Catholic quarterback Spencer Petras has flipped his commitment from Oregon State to Iowa. The 6-foot-5, 207-pound Petras had been committed to Oregon State since May, but his visit with Iowa quarterback coach Ken O’Keefe sealed the deal for the Hawkeyes.

As a senior, Petras completed 64 percent of his passes for 4,157 yards passing and 50 touchdowns, breaking Jared Goff’s school records in the process. He only threw two interceptions. Petras will enroll at Iowa this January.
The 247Sports Composite rankings has Petras as the nation’s No. 19 pro-style passer.
