Mike Locksley says Maryland is preparing to get MSU’s best shot in Week 4

Mike Locksley’s program is 3-0 and undefeated entering the conference slate. He’s pleased with what his team has accomplished so far, but he also knows things change when you hit B1G play.
At his weekly press conference, Locksley noted the Terrapins did what the team needed over the first 3 games but also sees a team that is “a work in progress.”
“We made it through our nonconference schedule,” said Locksley. “We did what was necessary but we also recognize those three games aren’t sufficient because we’re still a work in progress and still have things to clean up.”
As for Week 4, Locksley shared his opening remarks on Michigan State and admitted there are some added aspects you have to prepare for in East Lansing. He also told his team to expect a much-improved and galvanized Spartan program after their first game without Mel Tucker.
“When you go on the road to a place like Michigan State you have to prepare your team. Their student section sits right behind your bench,” said Locksley. “They’re loud, they’re obnoxious at times and I can tell it’s a tough environment to go in and play.
“We really felt we did some good things in our nonconference schedule but it’s a whole new ballgame when you enter conference play and it will be a very tough game on the road against a team coming off a tough loss dealing with adversity as a team. As I told our team, what we saw on tape a week ago will not be the team we face on Saturday. They’ll have a little more time now to galvanize, I expect they would do a tremendous job of coming together… We expect to get their best on Saturday.”
