Wisconsin is off to a strong start in its Friday night showdown vs. Purdue.
The Badgers exploded for 21 1st-half points on the road and took a 21-3 lead into the break. That’s the highest point total Wisconsin has produced in any 1st half all season so far.
All 3 of Wisconsin’s touchdowns came on the ground. Tanner Mordecai scored the first 2 and Braelon Allen added a 3rd at the end of a 16-play, 75-yard drive. Wisconsin scored touchdowns on each of its first 3 drives against the Boilermakers.
Wisconsin’s 1st-half out-burst also featured a trick play. Mordecai caught a pass for 19 yards on this play, which helped setup Wisconsin’s 2nd touchdown of the night:

This is a strong showing for a Wisconsin offense that has struggled a bit over the first month of the season. Last week, the Badgers managed just 7 points in the first half against Georgia Southern.
The Badgers’ defense also had a strong 1st half against Purdue. Wisconsin held Purdue to just 2-of-7 on 3rd down and recorded 3 tackles for loss before the break.
Entering tonight, Wisconsin has won 16 consecutive meetings with the Boilermakers.
