Ohio State DE Nick Bosa: I’m not even close to where I could be

Nick Bosa was a nearly unstoppable force on one of the top offensive lines in the country in 2017. And yet, despite all that success, the Ohio State defensive end believes he can be even better than he’s already provenBosa was asked about his future as a potential NFL prospect and if he thinks that, right now, he’d be able to play in the professional ranks if he was eligible.
“I think I would,” he said, according to 247Sports. “But an extra year of development is really important, and I think I’ll be a lot more ready next year.”
Just a sophomore, Bosa won’t be eligible for the NFL draft until next season.
Bosa finished the 2017 season with 32 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks and eight quarterback hurries. But the defensive end doesn’t think he’s even come close to reaching the level he’s capable of achieving.
“I’m not even close to where I could be,” Bosa said. “Just every day, I’m looking for something to get better. I watched film on Joey (Bosa). He went from freshman year — I watched his freshman, sophomore, junior film — and his biggest jump he made was the year from sophomore to junior year. His states weren’t the same, obviously. He’s getting triple-teamed and everybody knew who he was, but the jump he made as a player is why he’s doing what he’s doing right now.”
That’s a scary thought, especially for opposing B1G offenses. Bosa has already been extremely difficult to slow down. Another year of development and he could be one of the best in the country next season.
It should be fun to see if Bosa makes the same kind of jump from his sophomore to junior year as his older brother did a few seasons ago.
