ESPN’s FPI still isn’t giving Nebraska a good chance of reaching a bowl game.

Nebraska may be 2-2 now after beating Louisiana Tech, but that doesn’t mean that a bowl game appearance is a guarantee for Matt Rhule. The FPI gives the Huskers a 31.9% of achieving at least six wins this season.

Rhule has recovered from a bad 0-2 start to the year and has his team sitting at .500 heading into Week 4. Back-to-back wins over NIU and Louisiana Tech are to thank for that.

A tough loss in the season opener and a blowout loss to Deion Sanders and Colorado were not an ideal way to begin the year.

Now that Nebraska’s nonconference games are done, it is time to get into the rest of the B1G schedule.

Up next is Michigan (Sept. 30), Illinois (Oct. 6), Northwestern (Oct. 21), Purdue (Oct. 28), Michigan State (Nov. 4), Maryland (Nov. 11), Wisconsin (Nov. 18), and Iowa (Nov. 24).

It would be quite the feat for Rhule to coach Nebraska to a bowl game after the program won just four games a season ago. After firing Scott Frost and then having Mickey Joseph the rest of the way last season, Rhule would win a lot of fans over with a bowl berth.

Can Rhule find a way to win six games in his first year in Lincoln?
