The 1-2 Jets currently feature the much-maligned 3rd-year quarterback Zach Wilson after Aaron Rodgers went down with an ACL injury in the season opener against the Buffalo Bills. In replacement of Rodgers, Wilson has 2 touchdowns, 4 interceptions, and a QBR of 26.7.
Wilson is being ridiculed by everyone from Fireman Ed to Joe Namath, as the city has fully turned against him.
With that as the backdrop and Rodgers out for the indefinite future, the veteran Siemian could emerge as an option along with Tim Boyle despite Jets head coach Robert Salah still publicly siding with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The 31-year-old Siemian passed for 7,027 yards, 42 touchdowns, and 28 interceptions heading into his 9th pro season. Siemian’s best season in the league was with the Denver Broncos in 2016 when he finished with 3,401 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
During his 4 seasons at Northwestern, Siemian amassed 5,931 yards and 27 touchdowns against 24 interceptions. The Broncos selected Siemian in the 7th round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
Siemian’s alma mater Northwestern is 2-2 this season and will host No. 6 Penn State on Saturday (12 p.m. EST/BTN).
