Ohio State offensive coordinator Ryan Day turned down a head coaching job in SEC

Ohio State co-offensive coordinator and quarterback coach Ryan Day had a chance to take over a SEC program, but turned down the opportunity, according to head coach Urban Meyer.
Meyer brought the news during his Wednesday press conference discussing the program’s 2018 recruiting class.
Meyer said QB coach Ryan Day turned down a head coaching opportunity in the SEC.

Meyer didn’t state which program it was, however. Tennessee, Florida and Mississippi State were the recent SEC programs who filled its head coaching vacancies.
The 38-year-old assistant is in his first season on Ohio State’s staff, after coaching at Boston College and Temple. He also spent time in the NFL with Philadelphia and San Francisco.
“Coach Day had an opportunity to potentially be a head coach in the SEC but decided to stay at Ohio State,” Meyer said at his press conference. “He’s done a phenomenal job for us. There’s been other coaches on the staff who’ve had opportunities to move on and haven’t. This staff is very strong right now.”
