Nebraska recently unveiled potential exciting changes for historic Memorial Stadium.
The $450 million plans would be funded with no state tax dollars or student tuition and will be voted on by the Board of Regents next week on Oct. 5, according to Lincoln Star Journal reporter Luke Mullin.
Facets of the plan includes a total reconstruction of South Stadium that would make the area blocked off in 2025-26 for reconstruction, plus chair back seating in the East and West sections, as well as the infrastructure to provide alcohol.
The plan also will have new restrooms in the concourse and new spaces in the stadium geared for academic programs, student life and community engagement.

Almost half of the project would be covered by private donations, with the rest being from an internal lending program and other athletic department funds.
The estimated completion is slated for July 2026 with the possibility of South Stadium being ready for the 2027 season.
“The plans put forward today by Trev Alberts will make Memorial Stadium one of the top destinations in college sports for generations of Husker fans to come,” Regent Rob Schafer Schafer said. “We have a lot of hard work ahead, but I know Nebraskans will once again come together to make this tremendous vision a reality.”
